We're still working on the entire list of 101
things to do in and around Clewiston, but in
the meantime, check out a few of our favorite
links by clicking on the pix below!
Hiking and biking on the Lake Okeechobee scenic trail is
starting to be a big attraction here in Clewiston.
The trail sits atop the levee surrounding the big lake, and
offers commanding views of Lake Okeechobee and the
surrounding countryside, and a chance to see and experience
Florida's fresh water frontier firsthand.
The entrance to the north trail is at the Clewiston city marina,
about 3 miles from the Clewiston KOA, where you can rent a
bike for as little as 15 bucks a day from our friends at Mary
Ann Martin's Marine center. The entrance to the south trail
is right next to the Jolly Roger marina off Highway 27, with
parking and a picnic pavillion.
It's quite possibly the best eco-destination in southern
Florida, and we're doing our best to get the word out!
Check out this link to other great attractions in the
Lake Okeechobee Region!
Check out the summer racing schedule at the *NEW*
Hendry County Speedway for some of the best stock car, sprint car, and go-kart racing in Florida, just minutes north of the Clewiston KOA!
The Clewiston KOA is a proud sponsor of Bass Busters of
Florida, which sponsors fishing tournaments at the lake every
month, and sometimes twice a month! These guys are serious
anglers, and we're happy to help them promote Clewiston as
a year-round fishing destination!
For a more personalized guide to all the best fishing spots on the lake, including pickup and drop off at the Clewiston KOA, call Mark King!
For an authentic, only-in-florida attraction, take a short
(30 minute) drive north on highway 27 to Gatorama in
Palmdale, where you'll see alligators and crocodiles from
newborn to gigantic! You'll also see peacocks, florida
softshell turtles, and lots of exotic species like macaws,
bobcats and ostriches. Their gift shop alone is worth the drive!
Another great destination for animal lovers is the Vanishing
Species wildlife haven, also in Palmdale, and only 30 minutes
north of the Clewiston KOA. Plan a day trip there for a
thrilling and educational experience with many rare and
beautiful animals, including this Florida panther cub!
For a truly unique adventure on Lake Okeechobee, take an airboat tour or fishing charter with Captain Terry Garrels, leaving from Roland Martin's Marina, only 5 minutes away from the Clewiston KOA!
Afterward, relax at Scotty's Tiki bar, with live music every saturday night!

They also have a native american collection as well as a florida pioneer collection, and a collection focusing on Clewiston's more recent history. They also have a monthly lecture series, conducted in their own 60 seat auditorium. There's a lot of history here, and an afternoon at the Clewiston Museum will really open your eyes to it!
